Sicky Saturday & Sunday UnFunday

It's just another Manic Monday.  Oh ooh oh.  Is it just me or are the weekends flying by these days? Does anyone else feel like we're all trying to cram every last drop of summer fun into the weekends before the mad back-to-school dash begins?  Everyone's trying to get through their summer bucket lists and take those last minute weekend trips that they've been meaning to do for months.  Stores start displaying notebooks, pencils and glue and everyone loses their minds.  Me included.  I'm slightly freaking out about Mac starting 3-day nursery school in the fall.  I know he'll be fine, but it just feels like he's so grown up these days.  He talks like an adult most of the time and I'm constantly in awe of how big he is - last week he climbed up on the kitchen counter and started making me coffee like it was no big deal!  Next week he'll be driving.
Weekends are precious around these parts.  I love having my Wednesdays with the kids, but on weekends we get daddy home too.  So, I'm disappointed when a weekend gets messed up, which is pretty much what happened this past weekend.  I spent half of it lying in bed trying not to vomit all over the place (Sicky Saturday) and the other half running errands, cleaning the house and trying not to kill the children who only wanted to scream and make messes all day long (Sunday UnFunday).  I feel better (some weird stomach bug, I guess), but I also feel like I got nothing accomplished, missed out on a fun birthday party, lost my temper more times than necessary and wasted an entire weekend that we could have spent doing fun stuff.  And here it is Monday again.  Womp womp.  Don't get me wrong, it wasn't entirely awful.  We went to the park, the kids had an epic hose fight in the driveway washing the cars, we did lots of snuggling, we have groceries for the next month and I watched the first movie I've seen in years while I was lying in bed Saturday night trying not to die.  So, I guess there's that.
Cheer me up...who did something awesome this weekend?

Or commiserate with me...who's weekend sucked?

In better news we had a birthday party at a fun splash park and actually had a family dinner Friday night - that NEVER happens! So glad you are feeling better! 5. Elin is starting 3-day Preschool as well. Our first day is Wednesday! Wish us luck! I know what you mean about the weekends bring so precious! It's impossible to fit in quality time with the children, cleaning, errands, projects, and any fun activities!

  7. Sorry you were sick. Being sick on the weekend is so hard because at least your husband is home to help, but at the same time it eats into your weekend time. I guess there's just no good time to be sick. Adorable photos though!

  9. Ugh. I'm so sorry that you lost a weekend to a stomach bug. My weekend flew and I didn't get to do anything on my to-do list. I was busy the whole time...but I couldn't tell you what I actually did!

  11. So sorry you were sick. Glad it didn't lags long though. We've had weekends like that. Stinks!! There are many a weekend when drew has to go I to work to be there during the races which basically means we get him for one day out of the week and half of that is spent with him riding his bicycle (which he needs to so to relax) but we miss him. Loves the kids how's fight!! That was hilarous! Cam will be in 3 day school too and although I'm excited for him and ha in a little time with just Emmy I'm also sad and gonna miss him. They grow up too fast!

  12. Ughh...being sick on the weekend is awful, I'd much rather be sick during the week when I can stay home from work! Glad you're feeling better...but the back-to-school dash is definitely on. Elyse starts preschool in less than 2 weeks. I'm in denial. She's also having her first haircut on Monday. Her first one ever. I'm gonna lose it.

  15. Oh no!!! So sorry! This happened to me a couple weekends ago when we went to a concert on Saturday night and then I spent all night... sick. We'll leave it at that. Then Sunday I spent all day on the couch and thus began the downward spiral of me feeling behind for two weeks. Womp womp. Hope you feel better soon!!!

  16. So sorry you weren't feeling well. I hope you're back to 100% today!
If it's any consolation, my weekend was based around my boobs, and feedings, and trying not to fall asleep with a teeny tiny newborn in my arms. All while my in-laws are visiting. So much fun (and cue the sarcasm).

Connor starts school in November. Lucky for him/me/us, he gets to start later because of his late birthday. I get a few more months of us time but I'm really excited to see him grow and become a bit more independent.
