Stitch Fix Review

Every time I've mentioned Stitch Fix on the blog I get requests for photos of the clothes that I liked and didn't like.  I'm SO not good at taking my own clothing photos, but this time I tried...because I love you. And they turned out really really shitty.  I'm sorry.  I don't know what happened.  The mirror was dusty, the light was terrible, my lens was all smudged, the kids were running around like wild banshees and I was not very creative in my ensembles.  Ugh.  I'll do better next time, I promise.

Anyhoo...for this box, I requested some casual pants (that were not yoga pants or blue jeans) that I could wear chasing the kids around and not look frumpy and old.  Why is it so hard for me to find pants that fit well and so easy for them to send me pants that fit well?  I'll never understand, but I love it.  I also asked for a blazer, because I've been wanting to find one I can wear to the office and on weekends, but haven't found anything comfortable that fits well.  Stitch Fix to the rescue.  Here are my five items below.
Margaret M - Emer Printed Cropped Straight Leg Pant
41Hawthorn - Benson 3/4 Ruched Sleeve Blazer (navy)
Just Black - Dean Skinny Jean (red)
Level 99 - Giovanni Straight Leg Jean (dark green)
Market & Spruce - Kristah Ruffle Knit Blazer (black)

Margaret M - Emer Printed Cropped Straight Leg Pant
Everyone that's received these "Emer" pants from Stitch Fix raves about them.  They're like magic pants that fit everyone, feel great and are flattering.  Unfortunately, I think they sent me a size too big, because they're just not as flattering as I'd hoped.  Maybe it was the straight leg instead of a tapered leg, but they just didn't do it for me.  And they also just felt too short.  Although I will admit that they are wildly comfortable and I did love the pattern/color.  Verdict: RETURN

I love this blazer.  The first time I tried it on, I wasn't really thrilled with it.  The sleeves are rouched at the wrist, which felt weird to me and it's more of a knit than a traditional blazer (not stiff or pressed).  But after trying it on again later with a pair of jeans and a plain t-shirt, I really liked it.  The fit is great and flattering. It doesn't pull at my chest or dwarf me.  The knit is much more comfortable than I expected and I think it's a very versatile piece that I'll get a lot of wear out of.   Verdict: KEEP

This is one that I was not really thrilled with when I opened the box.  I love red, but who needs red jeans? However, as soon as I put them on I changed my mind.  They fit so perfectly!  They're soft and flattering and comfortable.  The color really pops and is so much fun!  They're cute with heels, with my Jack Rodgers and even with a pair of white Chucks.  Easy to dress up or down.  I'm not in love with the zipper on the ankles, but I can live with it.  Verdict: KEEP

Level 99 - Giovanni Straight Leg Jean (dark green)
Again, I'm not sure if it's a "straight leg" pants thing, but I just didn't feel like these jeans were nearly as flattering as the red ones.  I liked the dark/hunter green color, especially for fall.  It's definitely not a color I wear much, but I think it'd look great paired with brown riding boots, camo flats, gold sandals.  Verdict: RETURN

Market & Spruce - Kristah Ruffle Knit Blazer (black)
I really wanted to like this blazer, but I just wasn't happy with the details.  It fit nicely and was made from a really comfortable stretchy knit, but it had this weird ruffle tail thing in the back that I didn't love.  Plus, the sleeves just seemed way too short for me - maybe they're supposed to be, but it just felt like it was a weird mistake.  Plus, I wish it was a tad longer in the front.  Verdict: RETURN

So, I think I'm going to keep the red jeans and the navy blazer.
Everything else goes back.
Do you agree?

*This post is not sponsored or anything.  Stich Fix has no idea who I am, nor do they care. :)  But if you want to try Stich Fix for yourself, I'd love it if you'd sign up on their website through my referral link.  Mucho gracias.

  3. I got those Emer pants back in April and I hated them (I think I may be the lone person who found them uncomfortable). LOVE those red jeans you got! I've been requesting red or coral colored jeans and they haven't pulled through for me yet. Maybe next time!

  6. I love when people share their Stitch Fox boxes with pictures! Honestly I think everything they sent you looks awesome on you, but I especially love the items you kept! I feel like I have such a hard time finding pants that fit me correctly as well as jackets (they're always too small in the chest area and pull when I move my arms or too short in the arm length) so I totally need to try Stitch Fix! I'm asking for gift cards for my birthday :)

  16. I have been searching for the perfect pair of red skinny pants/jeans. I'm glad you found yours and they do look good on you. I have yet to try Stitch Fix. I think I'm too much of a control freak when it comes to shopping. You made good choices. I think the other two pairs of pants also look good on you, but you're the one who would know. P.S. I really like the set up you have for taking your own outfit pictures--it's fun and bright.

  21. I actually love the dark green jeans and now I want them! I used to have green corduroy pants, but when I tucked them into boots I felt like Peter Pan. Those green look like they'd work much better though. I'm requesting them for my next fix!

  24. I love what you chose, but I love the first pants too! I'm always weird about cropped pants because I'm short, but maybe I can pull them off. Your's look awesome with heels! I could totally see the red as a neutral to go with so many different items too. Love this post - I've heard so much about stitch fix but nothing as comprehensive!
