Stitch Fix Reveal - Winter Holiday Edition

It's that time again...time for another Stitch Fix reveal! This fix showed up on my doorstep back in December, the day after I got home from vacation and right in the middle of holiday madness, so pardon the messy hair and haggard face in these photos. If you've ever traveled alone with 2 children, luggage and car seats, you'll know why I look like I've been hit by a bus. It's a miracle I got them photographed at all instead of sitting in a dark corner drinking wine straight out of the bottle.

For this fix, I asked for knits in bright colors, something Christmasy, a fun sparkly top for New Years and a great pair of flattering jeans (since I've finally lost a bit of baby weight I've been carrying around for 4+ years and my favorite jeans don't fit as well as I would like). My stylist did a great job of picking out pieces that were exactly what I asked for. Despite not keeping many of the items due to fit/sizing, I really think she did a great job of picking pieces that were totally my style. And now looking back at the photos, I wish I would have kept a few more things. Thanks for another great fix, Jessica V! You're a keeper!

I fell in love with this top the second I saw the color. You all know I love yellow and this top is a gorgeous shade of mustard that's perfect for fall/winter. The color goes great with jeans - I also paired it with a navy polka dot scarf and some taupe boots. The knit was soft and cozy and I liked the added detail of the cross front (flattering), but I just couldn't get past how short it was in the front. It doesn't look too bad in the photo because I'm leaning forward a bit, but I felt like my belly button was exposed - it was that short. Even with a camisole underneath, it felt really awkward. I don't think a larger size would help with the length, so unfortunately I sent this one back. Womp womp.

Collective Concepts Turan Keyhole Front Blouse
This was the only item in the entire fix I was totally underwhelmed by. Not that I had big plans to go out and really get my party on this New Years Eve (I never left the house), but I wanted a top that was a bit sparkly, fun and flattering (something my wardrobe is really missing). This was not that top. This top was frumpy, dowdy and much more old-lady-looking than I was hoping for. Black is fine and I like pops of silver, but it was sheer and boxy with a tie keyhole in the front and baggy arms. Just not a good look on me.

Market & Spruce Colibri Plaid Henley Top
This henley was a gorgeous little casual top in a navy, green and red plaid. I loved the v-neck and the rich colors in the top and I'm kicking myself now as I look at the photos, because it's super cute and flattering on. But alas, I did not keep it. I like the tab sleeves and the collar, but it just felt too light/thin (cold) for the upcoming months and I didn't know if I'd get much wear out of it until next fall. It's a PERFECT early fall piece and I just wish I would have received it a few months ago (or lived in a warmer climate).

Kut From the Kloth Denna Skinny Jean
I'm also wearing the dark wash skinny jeans that I received in this fix in the above photo (and in the photo with the mustard top). These jeans were so soft and a really great dark color. They were also the perfect length, but (like I mentioned above), I've finally dropped a few pounds and they were just too big. That has never happened to me with pants and it's totally my fault! I feel like Stitch Fix always NAILS the fit on any pair of jeans/pants they send - it was my mistake that I didn't go back into my style profile and update my measurements and sizes. I totally forgot. Stitch Fix does let you make exchanges for a different size, but without being 100% sure the replacement size I picked would be a great fit, I opted to return them and I'll just ask for another pair of jeans in my next fix!

RD Style Jullien Fair Isle Pullover
This might just be one of the softest, thickest, most luxurious feeling sweaters I've ever put on. However, when I pulled this out of the box, I immediately wanted to just throw it back. It was so heavy and thick and gray - I was sure it was going to swallow me up and be incredibly unflattering. But I was SO WRONG. It's wonderful! I can't get enough of this sweater and I never want to take it off. It's so soft and warm and snuggly. And it surprisingly doesn't look huge and boxy and the gray color doesn't wash me out like usual. I love the fair isle design - it's perfect for winter and the holidays. Pair it with a great pair of jeans and some winter/snow boots (love these) and you've got the perfect winter weekend outfit. Warm enough to wear outside skating or playing in the snow and cozy enough to wear by the fire. I could live in this sweater.

So, there you have it! That was my December Stitch Fix reveal.

Which piece was your favorite?

  1. I love the plaid shirt! I like the yellow top too but I understand how it would feel too short!

  2. That yellow is super cute on you. I'm sad it didn't work out. I love the design in theory... but yep, if it's too short (and I can see what you mean), it doesn't work. That grey sweater is totally adorable on you, too. LOVE!

  3. Even though you returned most, I think you had a great fix! I am tempted to request that Honeypunch sweater... I love the color and the cut! But I'm also afraid it may be too short in the front, especially since I'm big chested!

  4. What a great fix!!! You look fantastic in everything you got- which is awesome. Just for the future, I have exchanged jeans with them before and it was the best decision I ever made. I wear those jeans a few times a week! :)

  5. Your fixes are always my favorite! I have a February SF board in progress and 1/3 of the pins are of you! Or maybe I just like how things fit your body better. Like I said, that plaid top looks way better on you than me!

  11. I like the plaid but thin plaid shirts aren't good in a cold state but I agree the fair isle sweater is a wonderful winter item.

  14. Such a bummer that yellow top was too short, because it was SO cute on you!
The festive plaid was adorable, too.
But, the Fair Isle Pullover. AH.MAY.ZING! Holy jeez, that's a cute one. I'm pinning the crap out of it. Even if it's never cold enough to wear that here, I want it!
Also. YOU. LOOK. AMAZING. Spill your secret. I'm clinging to like 10 pounds of baby weight that's pretty much given me a big FU for the last... 4 years?
