5 on Friday - Volume 5

ONE.  How do ya'll like my new blog design?  If you're reading this through an app or a reader site, do me a favor and click over and let me know what you think.  The super sweet and talented Stephanie from Stephanie G Designs helped put my vision of a clean, fresh, bright layout into reality.  It's similar to what I had before, but jazzed up a bit and definitely more professional looking.  I love it.

TWO.  My new baby nephew is due any day now! I'm beyond excited to meet him.  I also can't wait until he's old enough to come over and spend the night with Mac and build forts and play army men and all that fun boy cousin stuff.  They are going to be the best of friends.  There's something special about having a cousin close in age and close in location to you.  I grew up very close to my cousins (one of whom is getting married this weekend!) - they understand you in a way non-family friends never will and love you anyway.

THREE.  Last week we added 10 happy little fish to our family - the "heartiest, strongest, most durable" fish they sell at the pet store, or so they told me.  We'd had the tank set up for weeks beforehand and did everything we were supposed to.  Mac was SO excited.  He loves these fish.  He loves banging on the side of the tank screaming "FEEEETCH!!!"  He checks them out multiple times a day.  He shows them off to everyone that comes over.  He says goodnight to them every evening.  He loves them so much.  Unfortunately we don't have a good track record with keeping them alive.  We're now down to 2.

FOUR. We had such a wonderful Labor Day weekend.  We did absolutely nothing  all weekend long.  It was glorious.  Ryan let me sleep in every day, bless his heart.  Then he went hunting on Monday and Mac and I had the best day together.  He actually feel asleep in my arms in our bed and we took a three hour nap together, snuggling.  We haven't done that since he was a newborn and it was just about the greatest thing ever.  I had such a hard time going back to work on Tuesday because I just wanted to be home with him again all day.  He's so much fun right now!

FIVE. I'm looking forward to some upcoming travel this fall.  I feel like it's been forever since I'm been anywhere.  Washington, D.C. and Chicago are already on the books.  Southern Florida is in the works.  And I'm also saving up for a big birthday trip to LONDON to visit this girl in the new year.  I'm so excited.  Also, is is just me or have flights gotten ridiculously expensive these days?  Boo.  Anyone else got an exciting trip on the horizon?

  2. Florida next week is it for us...we'd love to put a ski-trip on the books but I'm not sure we can afford it--skiing gets SO expensive!

  3. Love the new blog design. Wish I was doing more traveling. We just usually visit family, but I have a work trip to Destin this October, so I guess that's something.

  5. Yes, they have gotten stupid expensive.

The fact he says good night to the fish is just the cutest thing ever and makes me love him even more.

  8. I LOVE the new look!! And Jackson would have a ball at your house watching all those fishies! We took him to the Houston Aquarium this weekend and he absolutely loved it and would run from tank to tank screaming with excitement and pointing at all the different fish!

So nice that you guys had a low-key, relaxing weekend. I'm hoping for the same this weekend!! And how awesome that y'all were able to nap together.... what I would give for that!!!

And about London, you just let me know if you want a friend to tag along! ;)

    Happy weekend, dear!

  11. I keep thinking we need to get fish for C. He loves them
At my in-laws or any place he sees them. But I have a feeling I'd kill them all and the thought of keeping up with cleaning the tank makes me think it wouldn't be a wise choice. I think we may just stick to fish watching other places!;)

  12. Love your new look!! :)

Ahhh, that nap must have been heavenly!! I would give anything for Jaqs to settle into me for a 3 hour cuddle sesh! I keep dreaming of the days when she's a little older and we can snuggle on the couch and fall asleep to Beauty & The Beast or something. Does that make me a total weirdo? HAHA!

  13. I LOVE the new look!!
Something tells me if we had a fish tank I'd find my child in with the fish. :)

  14. Yay for baby cousins! :) We have the same thing over here...only about 6 months apart, and we can't wait for all that fun stuff too!

And oops on the fishies...hope Mac hasn't noticed! I know NOTHING about aquarium care. We always had bad luck with them when I was little too!

  21. I am so happy to have stumbled upon your blog! I've been contemplating for the past month whether my new love of blogging would still exist once I find employment as a lawyer. You & your blog gives me so much hope that I can have everything I want. Thank you so much!
