Best Summer Toys for Tots

I've already mentioned this, but we are absolutely loving summer at our house!  Mac's favorite word right now is "OUTSIDE" and he says it non-stop and points to the front door anytime we're inside. He would rather be outside in the heat with the hose, than inside with all the toys in the world. Fortunately, there are some pretty cool outside toys for little ones right now.  Mac was lucky enough to receive lots of fun outdoor toys for his birthday in May and we've been slowly amassing enough toys to keep the entire neighborhood busy!  Our front yard is "happening" these days!  I thought it'd be fun to share some of Mac's favorite things /outside toys right now.  There's still a LOT of summer left!

Best Summer Toys for Tots (1 year old)

Radio Flyer Pathfinder Wagon - Such a classic summer item. This one is plastic, has 2 seats and drives like a dream! It even has cup holders!

Little Tikes Gas 'n Go Mower - Possibly Mac's favorite summer toy.  He loves mowing the lawn with daddy.  This one (thankfully) doesn't take any batteries, but makes great noise.  He loves pulling the cord and "starting" it.  So cute.

Bubble Machine - This bubble machine is no joke.  LOTS of bubbles.

Crayola Sidewalk Chalk  - We love our sidewalk chalk at our house (Mac also loves to eat it).

Step2 Fun and Sun Climber with Sandbox - Slide and sandbox combo.  Amazing.

Inflatable Kiddie Pool - This little inflatable pool is just the right size.  He has very little interest actually getting in it, but he loves throwing things in it and splashing around.

Sprinkler - This is similar to the sprinkler we have and love.  Shoots in all different directions.  So much fun to run through.

Little Tikes Spiralin' Seas Waterpark - If your little one doesn't have a water table, you are SO missing out.  Greatest toddler invention ever.

Melissa & Doug Sand Set - For making mud/sand pies and other delicious treats in the park sandbox.

John Deere Sit-N-Scoot Tractor - How cute is this mini John Deere tractor?  The country girl in me cannot get enough.

Little Tikes 2-in-1 Snug 'n Secure Swing - This little swing is hanging from the tree in our front yard and gets a LOT of use. The neighbors across the street had to get one too because their girls loved it so much.

Puddle Jumper - Perfect for visits to the pool or the lake.

Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Watering Can - Because Mac loves to help me water the plants.

Melissa & Doug Happy Giddy Chair - For lounging. Just in case he ever wanted to stop moving for 5 seconds.

Am I missing anything?

What are your kid's favorite summer toys?

  1. We have that bubble machine!!! LOVE

  2. these are some definite faves in our house too...CC also loves her radio flyer tricycle/bike thing and her cozy coupe car!! anything getting us outside is a big hit in our home!!

  3. We have a bunch of those on your list. I do need to look into the puddle jumper, does it work to keep him afloat (with assistance of course). Max really just goes diving even in the kiddie pool. It's a lot of work taking him there lol :)

  4. Ah I can't wait until next year when Abbie can play with all of these too!!!

  5. I need to hang onto these for next year - like that water park!

  6. This is so great! My little one is turning 1 next month and everyone keeps asking me what to get her.

  7. Thanks so much for sharing these. Jackson loves that water table and swing. He also really enjoys riding in his wagon. I am going to have to go to the store this week to pick up a puddle jumper for Jackson. It looks like it would be perfect for the pool and while we're on vacation at the beach! I also think Jackson would love the John Deere tractor. :-)

  8. Such great selections.... Jackson LOVED most all of those at that age (and still uses a lot of them now, a year later). And that's great that Mac is using a Puddle Jumper this summer --- he'll be so confident next summer and will look like a little fish!!

    Happy Wednesday, girl! :)

  9. SO many fun things, we definitely need to get a wagon soon! The water table and radio flyer 3 in1 trike are Stella's favorite right now:)

  10. We have the water table and pool out back. They are the only things that get us through our afternoons!

  11. Found your blog thru Instagram:) we love our water table, wagon and that bubble blower! My 13 month old always wants to be outside and this cool-weather-lovin-mama thinks this Texas heat is too much to handle. So the water table is a great outdoor activity!

  12. So fun! We definitely need to have a playdate soon so I can figure out which ones Dez will like best. :)

  13. We have a lot of those same toys and all are a hit! We definitely need to get a water table though. And the slide/sandbox climber, we have the same one, but I'm so scared he's going to like jump right off of it. He has no fear!

  14. Hi Sara! Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for leaving a comment on my guest post on Julie's blog yesterday. You are so sweet - that was just what I needed to hear!

And oh my goodness - Mac is so adorable. Those curls at the end of his hair - too cute!

I've been thinking about getting Graham the John Deere sit and scoot tractor, but I wasn't sure how it compared to the other John Deere "activity tractor" that's also on amazon. Now that I know that your little one likes it, I might go with the sit and scoot. And we are def getting a water table. I'm tempted to go ahead and get it even though Graham's birthday isn't until Sept. That way we can use it now while it's crazy hot outside. :)

    Anyway, thanks again!

  15. Love this!! You can never go wrong with bubbles!!

  16. We just got that water table, and it has changed our lives! :) Keeps the little man occupied forever...

  17. Love this. We got C a huge water table for her birthday, which I set up earlier this summer to help her work on cruising/standing alone, plus i didnt want half the summer to be gone before she could use it. She is obsessed with it. She will play with it for a good hour, though she hates having the toys and pieces in it. She takes everything out, i put it back and she removes it again. I don't get it, but whatever makes her happy.
