Santa Baby

Another successful Santa visit in the books!

I really wasn't sure how our visit with Santa would go this year. Every time I'd mention meeting Santa to Mac, he'd get this look of fear and sadness in his eyes and his little lip would start quivering and my heart would break. While I love the crying baby photos SO MUCH, I certainly didn't want to traumatize my kid and make him so scared of Santa that it ruined Christmas for him. I'm not that mean.  As the days approached, I talked to Mac quite a bit about Santa and he started to come around to the idea of being able to tell him what he wanted for Christmas and ask about Rudolph. That morning when we pulled out the "Visit Santa" activity from our advent calendar, he regressed and got scared and teary-eyed again. I told him how much Mim wanted to see Santa and promised him that he  didn't have to do it if he didn't want to. He agreed he'd try, if I'd give him a sucker. Deal.

As we stood in line, Santa walked by us and gave the kids high fives. Mim loved it, of course. Mac was very apprehensive, but did surprisingly awesome. He watched the kids in line ahead of us and said "I'm a big boy, I can do that." He climbed right up on Santa's lap next to Mim and almost even smiled at one point. Mim lasted about a minute and then she was OVER IT. I was secretly (ok, not so secretly) pretty excited that at least one of them cried. But then when I saw the photo, I nearly died. I cannot get over Mac's look of annoyance at his baby sister for nearly messing up his opportunity to tell Santa that he wanted medical tools and a new garbage truck. I cannot stop laughing.

And just for comparison - here's the last three years with the same Santa.

Don't forget to join our Visits with Santa link-up!

  1. Well Mac certainly came around, I bet next year he'll be even better. You may still get the water works from Mim though. Fingers crossed for you =) But this year's is the best. I mean those faces are perfection! Last year's is a super close second though.

  10. You have the best Santa pictures ever!!! Is it bad that I absolutely LOVE when kids cry while sitting on Santa's lap? It's so adorable. Mac's face is priceless. Ha ha!

  11. Too funny! My question with past years... Did you hand them to Santa already crying or were they fine at the beginning? Noah wouldn't even go near him at 1 without bawling and clinging to me like he was going to die!

  13. Ummm... can I say that I love the pictures you have over the years, but what I love the most is the fact that it looks like the same santa over the four years :) He looks so jolly and kind. Hopefully next year will be the best photo!

I want to do this with Sophie, but I don't want her to be terrified of Santa in the photo either.

  15. Yep, best pic, ever. How can I get my kids to give me these exact same reactions? This one needs a frame and needs to be displayed every Christmas!

  16. This is hands down the best picture ever. Santa looks perfect, though!! Apparently your kids aren't a fan, though, judging by years past!! I seriously want to frame this in my house...is that weird?
