Under the Big Top - Jimmy Buffett Concert

If you've never been to a Jimmy Buffett concert, you are seriously missing out.  It's quite a spectacle!  And not just the show (which is always great).  The best part about the concert is the pre-show tailgate party in the parking lot.  For this show, the parking lot at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater opened at 3 p.m. (for an 8:00 concert time).  People came from all over the country to spend the afternoon in the sun, grilling, drinking margritas, listening to music and hanging out with thousands of fellow Parrotheads.

Ryan and I got to the venue around 4:30 and the party was well underway.  Cars and people as far as you could see.
We quickly set up camp, started the grill, turned on the music and began checking everything out.  We had a great spot (a double lot, if you will), so we had plenty of room to spread out and kick-back.

We brought one of the inflatable palm trees from the luau to set the mood.
We fired up the grill and enjoyed bison burgers and veggie kabobs.
After eating, we decided to take a stroll around the parking lot to check things out.
I was blown away by all the great vehicle decorations.
There were FINS everywhere!

They had their ships, and all the flags were a flyin'
As well as kites.
Because is was seriously windy!  That Bahama breeze was blowing in.
The people next to us had a palm tree too, but I think it was feeling a little inferior next to ours.
But what they lacked in tree size, they made up for in drink/dinner style!
The spreads were amazing!
And the OUTFITS!!!  Did I menion the outfits!!

There's no denying Buffett fans have style!
Old and young alike.
And speaking of getting them hooked early, there were a couple absolute dolls hanging around.
We enjoyed a few cold ones...
But not as many as this guy.
Although, apparently we were all breaking the law.
Jimmy would be proud.
Finally, we made it inside the ampitheater and settled into our seats.
Along with a few thousand friends.
And then JB appeared!!
Let the show begin!
It was an amazing night!!  Thank you Jimmy!!

  10. Oh my gosh, I had no idea Jimmy Buffet concerts were such an ordeal. It would be fun just to go to the tailgating part! If I started drinking and partying at 3:00, there is no way I would make it through the show. I'm old like that;)
